Korzinka cashback or promocode: which one saves more

Cashback and promocodes are calculated differently and behave differently on one order. How to work out which is worth more for your basket.

There are two ways to save at Korzinka and they work on different principles. A promocode lowers the basket at the till, immediately. Cashback returns part of the money after payment. The question is not which is better in general — it is which gives more on the basket you are actually buying.

There are currently 2 active offers on the Korzinka page.

How they differ

  • When it applies. A promocode at the till, so the amount you hand over drops there and then. Cashback arrives later — usually the next day or at the end of the month — which means you cannot count on it while paying.
  • How it is calculated. A promocode is most often a fixed amount. Cashback is a percentage, so it grows with the basket.
  • Who provides it. The promocode is the shop's offer. Cashback is the bank's or payment app's. So look for cashback terms on the bank's page and promocode terms on the shop's.
  • What limits it. A promocode has a minimum spend and an expiry date. Cashback has a category and a monthly cap.

Which wins on which basket

The whole thing reduces to one rule: a fixed-amount promocode wins on a small basket and percentage cashback wins on a large one. The reason is simple — a fixed amount does not change, while a percentage grows with the total.

Finding the break-even point is easy: divide the promocode amount by the cashback rate. Below that basket size the promocode is worth more; above it, cashback is. Work this out before you reach the till, because rearranging a basket afterwards is awkward.

Two corrections apply. If the promocode carries a minimum spend, then below that threshold it is not an option at all and there is nothing to calculate. And if the monthly cashback cap is already used up, its real rate is zero.

Can you use both

Usually yes, because they come from different sides: the promocode from the shop, cashback from the payment method. They do not block each other.

There is one subtlety. Cashback is calculated on what you actually paid, which is the amount after the promocode. The larger the code's discount, the smaller the cashback. That is the order of calculation rather than a fault — which is why the combined saving comes out smaller than the two added together.

One more limit: an item already carrying a shop promotion usually will not take a promocode, because one item gets one discount.

Running the calculation

The division rule is easier to see in practice. Say the shop has a fixed-amount promocode and your card pays cashback at some rate. Dividing the promocode amount by the cashback rate gives you the basket size at which the two are equal.

An ordinary weekly shop almost always lands below that threshold, so the promocode wins there. A large monthly shop lands above it, and cashback gives more. That is why there is no universal answer — the answer moves with the size of the basket.

One detail matters: use the amount that will actually apply to you, not the advertised one. An offer phrased as "up to X" will not deliver X on a small basket.

What to check first

  • Minimum spend. Measured on the goods; delivery does not count towards it.
  • Payment method. Some offers work only with a particular payment method or card.
  • Shop or app. An offer may run in the shop, in the app, or both — it is not always the same.
  • Cashback cap. Early in the month the full rate applies; by the end the cap may be used up.

The practical order is simple: build the basket, look at the total, then do the division above. On a large monthly shop cashback almost always wins; on one small purchase the promocode does. On PromoBozor both pages show every offer with its conditions and the date it was last checked, so you can run the calculation on real numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use cashback and a promocode on the same order?

Usually yes, because they come from different sides: the promocode is the shop's offer while cashback is the bank's or payment app's. But cashback is calculated on the amount after the promocode, so the combined saving works out slightly smaller than the two added together.

Which one actually saves more?

It depends on the basket. Divide the promocode amount by the cashback rate and you get the break-even basket size. Below that, the fixed promocode gives more; above it, percentage cashback does. On a large monthly shop cashback is almost always ahead of a fixed-amount code.

Why was my cashback lower than expected?

One of three reasons. If a promocode was applied, cashback is calculated on the reduced amount. The monthly cashback cap may already be used up. Or the purchase fell outside the qualifying category — the headline rate usually applies to selected categories only.
