Railway is an infrastructure platform for deploying applications, databases, volumes, functions and background jobs. You supply source code or a template, and the platform handles building, running, networking and observability, with no separate DevOps setup. Builds default to Nixpacks, which detects the language and dependencies on its own but can be replaced by a Dockerfile or a custom configuration. Managed databases include Postgres, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB and ClickHouse, while Railway Functions run Bun-based TypeScript at the edge. Networking covers HTTP, TCP, gRPC and WebSockets, and object storage is handled through S3-compatible templates. Plans come at three levels — Hobby, Pro and Enterprise — with features and resource ceilings varying by tier.
